The Porto del Colombo still has features of its long history. During the period of Turkish rule, the property was home to high ranking officers of the Turkish military. Metallic rings nailed to the walls can still be seen in the garden where the slaves were once kept. Towards the end of the 19th century, the building was also home to the French embassy and later by prominent Greek political figueres.
