
This was a project that began years ago with the aim of recreating a Cretan village where visitors would enjoy experiences ranging from Cretan dance classes to a traditional Cretan wedding. There is a folklore museum and arts and crafts workshops operating upon request such as ironmongers, loom, wood oven, and traditional Cretan dances. The hotel offers a unique alternative experience welcoming guests who are looking for an off the beaten track holiday (06/08 EP) Location The Arolithos Village is situated about 10 kilometres from the city of Heraklion. The Minoan palace of Knossos is just a short drive away. To reach Arolithos by car, take the highway exit to GAZI and ANOGIA and keep on driving towards Anogia. The road zigzags the heights above Heraklion and will take you through rolling countryside and villages all the way to Arolithos. All rooms come with balcony, direct dial telephone and air conditioning. Some of the rooms have a fireplace. The furnishing is in a quite basic rustic style. Restaurant There is a main restaurant which offers Greek dishes cooked with all due respect to tradition and original ingredients. Exterior The whole complex has been built to resemble a traditional Cretan village, complete with a main square, houses and workshops. The new swimming pool area Delphys is a refreshing addition available for a relaxing swim or suntanning on the deckchairs. Lobby There is a medium sized reception area where clients are welcomed.
