Itinerary
Days 1-2: Fly to Delhi
Fly overnight to Delhi, India's capital city.
Day 3: Discover Delhi
Spend a full day exploring the sights of Old Delhi: drive past the colossal Red Fort, browse the bustling bazaar of Chandni Chowk, visit India's largest mosque, Jama Masjid, and view the 1930s Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple. Make a brief stop at India Gate and visit Humayun's Tomb.
Day 4: Agra
Travel to Agra, visiting Sikandra to see the marble and red sandstone tomb of Emperor Akbar, the Mughal architectural masterpiece built in 1605.
Day 5: Taj Mahal
Rise early to view the impressive Taj Mahal in all its glory at sunrise. Completed in 1653, this remarkable edifice was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After dark return tu the fort to enjoy a spectacular sound and light experience.
Day 6: Fatehpur Sikri
Journey to the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, built in 1569 by Emperor Akbar. A spectacular array of Mughal palaces and temples, the complex was abandoned shortly after completion due to a lack of water and is still surrounded in mystery. Continue to the Chand Baori Stepwell, a fabulously geometric, ancient construction, before arriving in Jaipur.
Day 7: Hawa Mahal & Amber Fort
Begin with a stop at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds, before continuing to Amber Fort. Also visit City Palace, Jantar Mantar Observatory and the local bazaar in Choti Choper.
Day 8: Kingdom of Dreams
Travel to Gurgaon near Delhi, where tonight you will visit the Kingdom of Dreams to watch a magical Bollywood performance.
Day 9: Fly Delhi to Ireland
Fly to Ireland, arriving home the same or following day.
